I Go to Suzie Q’s (Dub, Skywalker, Afi Goo, Jack Herer)
January 12, 2011 § 1 Comment
I am obsessed with variety. While this trait can be overwhelming or distracting at times, as a Cannabis user I feel it is rewarded. We are presented with new crosses, varietals, and esoteric strains only sought out by the most patient of growers…it never stops! So as I mulled over which dispensaries to visit the Seattle area, Suzie Q’s claim to ‘the greatest variety of strains’ in Seattle naturally jumped out at me. Full review after the jump.
With over 30 (partial list here) available I wasn’t disappointed. All of the samples neatly arranged by quality, each ‘class’ on 3 tiers (priced at 8$, 10$, 12$, and 15$ a gram). The clearly labeled jars had been sealed with a spice jar style lid, allowing you experience the smell more accurately when shaken. On the bottom shelf, look for the ‘garden variety’: a grab-bag of top shelf buds, at bottom shelf prices (recommended for the vaporizer, also a great option for those rolling it up). I was also given an unsolicited sample of a high-grade tincture she had available, made with medical grade glycerin, a real treat. The way Suzie handled the visits was professional and she displayed a wealth of knowledge in all the varietals we discussed. The new patient will be reassured having medicine recommended with such confidence, and it will be obvious that she takes great pride in her work.
So with over 40 choices available I ignored the cornucopia of alternative methods and looked solely to the smoke (I’m still kid-on-christmas-morning excited about the 2010BC Lowrider I picked up last month), so here it is:
Dub-A 12$ med that Suzie immediately responded with when I said I was looking for a great ‘middle of the day’ smoke. I went through a Sativa-head phase a while back, and had been taking a break to enjoy the other end of the spectrum. But now I wanted to revisit my first love, and this middle shelf med delivered. Dub gave me that ‘auto-pilot’ clarity I’m looking for when it’s time to bear down and get work done. Perhaps a little too racy for just sitting around, the experience was only positive when there was work to be done.
Skywalker (BlueberryxMazar)- This strain and I have had elusive relationship. Long have I pined away over reviews and photos and never gotten to taste. It was good to finally satiate my desire for this exceptionally well-bred (a cross between two Cannabis Cup winners) Indica dominant. The buzz was very pleasant, by the 2nd toke the feeling of a heavy blanket spread over me, my mind limber and worry-free.
Afi Goo-Told Suzie that I was looking for a knock-me-down Indica from the top shelf, and I got it. Smell alone will remind you why a top shelf exists, truly incredible. Afi Goo delivered a night of low eyes and leisure. Despite the heaviness of the med, I had a fluid and active, but relaxed conversation with a good friend. I love that about top shelf meds, the more intense the experience doesn’t equal impairment…full review
Jack Herer-Before I was out the door Suzie gave me a first-time-visitors gram. My eyes lit up when I realized this would be my first of Jack Herer. I was very excited to try this sought-after strain. The name speaks for itself, and the it smelled and looked like it benefited from a caring grower. The wild, fantastical appearance of this bud spoke to its legendary bag appeal, and the smell was exceptional…full review
Suzie’s claim to connoisseur quality cannabis doesn’t just stop at her buds, each gram I bought was weighed out as just one nug, each with excellent visual appeal. I really appreciated this detail, I feel like its hard to get to know a strain when you buy a small amount that has been picked apart for a spot-on weigh out. These small details set a dispensary apart, and keep someone like me coming back.
(Ed. Note: Suzie was my provider for this visit, and it took place at their old North end location)
