‘Jesus’ was created by a Cannabis breeder and cancer patient in the Northwest. Dependent on his harvest for relief, this driven gardener set out to find ‘the’ cross. With top genetics and a mean green thumb on his side, his talents were put to the task of breeding a secret Pacific Northwest local with a choice Afgooey. The result of this breeding was ‘Jesus’, a varietal the grower claims saved his life. Cannabis culture is rich with a colorful oral history, and telling this story is best accompanied by a joint of the varietal. The smoke emboldens the story-teller and silences naysayers with an airy and attentive glow. The cancer-curing properties of ‘Jesus’ may be up for debate, but its obtrusively happy buzz is not.
Before pulling out the grinder, aroma lovers should take note. ‘Jesus’ leads with a woodsy bouquet that turns sharp in the nose-red cedar or sandalwood. Next, a pleasant second layer that can register as tropical nuts, like Macadamia. Depending on method of combustion, a return of the sweeter leanings may be enjoyed during inhalation. Buds of ‘Jesus’ appeared matted in a messy web of trichomes, covering sparse hairs and broad leaves that turn inward. These leaves hide what visual potential ‘Jesus’ may have, but can be forgiven-they house great aromas and geode like caches of cloudy resin.
‘Jesus’ begins with a sensation of awakening, a sensory encompassing transition that lowers a glowing skin-deep buzz onto the body. This smoke stokes a colorful imagination that hones the mind’s natural ability to immerse itself into anything from pleasant sounds to music, mundane tasks to creative pursuits. A soaring high with mind-bending potential, to this user moments felt pleasantly scripted in their joining of sound, emotion, and physical sensation. These more intensive effects have a shorter shelf life, but the heady afterglow is fully functional and alert. For the moderate smoker ‘Jesus’ has a great knack for delivering very noticeable effects that still leave you feeling socially intuitive, and confident.
Users that favor classic Indica profiles may find rewards in chasing Jesus’s sky-high ceiling, a treat for those who enjoy a well-rounded buzz heavy on euphoria. Most users should find it easy to use ‘Jesus’ frequently and for sustained periods of time with no fatigue or lack of social presence. It should be noted that the length of positive post-peak effects can be greatly increased when smoking in this manner. Therapeutically, ‘Jesus’ boasts an uplifting, but accurate, perspective on the dark corners of life. For this writer it found a place in my stash as a truly utilitarian day smoke that left me feeling giddy with quiet euphoria.

Personal Statement: This varietal left a great impression and was uniquely effective as a therapeutic tool. Beyond recreationally enhancing sound and aroma, Jesus left me feeling present and confident in a variety of social situations. A sample from my ‘note pad’ draft: ‘I have found few varietals that allow us to feel unfettered joy in the small details that make up our lives, more than this Sativa dominant’. I of course toned down the sentiment for a more objective profile in the end. But I felt it noteworthy that this strain has stood out among the dozens I’ve tried since the beginning of the year in its euphoria and mental restoration. For me it delivered a ‘simple joy’ that can be hard to find these days, I hope the same for you.
