Apologies, Excuses, Photos

I know. We’ve been terrible blog-keepers. Succumbing to humdrum of endless caffeine, late-night work sessions, to-do lists and their ilk…we’ve lost a little drive. But, momentum seems to be gaining! Just last night I saw jack scribbling notes about the oft-ignored Indica Dominant, Original Chronic.
Anyhow, in place of any literary substance I will once again throw the new photos up here to appease the patient reader. Hope it serves has some sort of consolation.

Elephant, Elephant Hash, Elephant Oil from AVCS
July 14, 2011 § 1 Comment
It’s been a long time coming. Last month about this time I received an incredible taster’s kit from Aqua Verde Cannabis Solutions. The producer behind ACVS is, putting it lightly, obsessed with the production of concentrates that are spotlessly clean and devastatingly powerful.
From a patient’s standpoint the product received was impeccable. The concentrates were in glass vials sealed with perforated shrink wrap, and then packaged in a vacuum sealed bag. Along with a presentation that was both medicinally sound and attractive, each vial is joined by a ‘disclosure form’ detail the genetics, harvest and flower dates, growing medium, nutrients used, and description of extraction process.
It was truly a Cannabis writer’s treat to receive not only one varietal in three forms (bud, hash, oil) but all from one producer? I am truly grateful for the opportunity.
With the ever shifting sea of available providers and producers out there, it is members of this community like AVCS that are a rare mix of hard-earned expertise, compassion, and meticulous production standards that will outlast the rest.
Best, Jack
ELEPHANT
Grower/Producer: AVCS
EFFECTS: dreamy, relaxing, glowing body sensations, heavy
SMELL/TASTE: candy, leather, spice
Elephant, named so for its reportedly large colas and cannabinoid laden trichomes, this smoke fits the bill for after-hours relaxation. It’s aroma is reminiscent first of the saccharine sweetness of candy, but avoids being dismissed with a more lasting, and spicier, aroma of musk and leather that sits beneath the surface.
It’s high shows its less dominant influence first, adding a lackadaisical sense of musing to the mind, and freeing the user up for easy conversation. It’s Indica influence builds momentum and begins to dominate with quiet contentment, still leaving a quiet stirring of creative and social energy that may feel especially pleasant on a late summer day.
The body sensations can have a high ceiling. Some patients may find they can re-dose to increase their intensity and frequency. Medicinally Elephant has a variety of uses, but primarily it is used for pain management within the AVCS patient group.
Grower/Producer: AVCS
EFFECTS: heady, stupefying, induces positive attitude, calming
SMELL/TASTE: pine, leather, sour
Producer’s Statement: Crushed ice, ice water, and bubble bags. Slow hand agitation. 73 Micron bag collection.
A deeply matured version of Elephant’s aroma is heavy on this immaculate bubble hash. The candied smell of the bud has grown more dynamic, now a sour musk of itself. The leather now with pungent pine and pine sap notes that dominate the spicy bouquet.
With a little adjustment to the temperature, vaporizing this bubble hash can be effective. If using a nail or skillet system of combustion, users will be pleased by the highly productive smoke, full doses can be had with one or two dabs.
Ingesting this bubble hash combines and amplifies all characteristics of the bud, adding a roller coaster onset that builds for a few moments, and then takes off . The Sativa energy exerts itself with stupefying authority immediately, and with great sustain. The calm and serenity is still present here, adding a dreamy edge that can still hold focus. If dosed correctly, the uplifting onset, and eventual drop-off may be a suitable nighttime regiment for patients suffering from insomnia.
With this Elephant concentrate, powerful effects can be achieved with little chance of overwhelming moderate users, although all should be cautious when first trying. A clean and powerful concentrate, this bubble hash speaks to its producer’s commitment to quality.
Elephant Amber Oil
Grower/Producer: AVCS
EFFECTS: heady, focused, euphoric, couch-lock, visually distorting
SMELL/TASTE: Pine sap, spice, crushed pepper, chrysanthemum
Producer’s Statement: Quick wash in 99% isopropyl alcohol. Filtered and evaporated once, purged almost completely then re-washed in 99% isopropyl. Double filtered and evaporated once, purged almost completely then re-washed in 99% isopropyl. Double filtered and purged over 225 F heat before vacuum filtering a final three times.
In this Elephant derived amber oil the smell is a powerful and clean combination of pepper and pine sap, all joining in a nose tingling and powerfully distilled aroma. When manipulating the oil it also moves and performs like sap, making large dabs easy to whip up.
The taste translation on Elephant is impressive, accompanied with a full-bodied smoke that feels smooth, but pushes hard against the lungs. Initial effects wind up throughout the body, and users may experience a subtle sensation of taking off. For newer to moderate users this onset can range from exhilarating to jarring if not dosed cautiously. Although the initial pay load of cannibinoids can be shocking, effects come to full fruition over a long peak with incredible sustain. For patients in need of large doses with fast-acting effects, this clean extract delivers.
In higher doses this oil can induce feelings of euphoria and sense of dreaming. Body sensations become powerfully dynamic and soaring, and Elephant’s ability to amplify these sensations within a very high ceiling is ever-present here. Users should be cautious at this dose, and possibly prepared for lay down. This is a clean and dynamic concentrate, magnifying the traits of its origin, and surprising with new benefits and effects with each re-dose.
Many thanks to AVCS, truly the most fun I’ve had doing a write-up in a long time.

3 Tables at the Farmer’s Market
April 14, 2011 § Leave a Comment

Ah yes, the Cannabis Farmer’s Market. Knotty came by my house for a sample of his newest, White Rhino, and we were on our way. Here are 3 tables that caught the eye.
A great co-op that the journal has mentioned before. Last I visited CEG for their tasty and stupefying Caboose, but really fell in love with the uplifting hybrid, #5. A couple of weeks later the owner came by during a photo session with Knottyy, leaving a huge nug (7.2g) of Hawaiian Skunk on his way out. This monster bud was bursting with a tropical bouquet dominated by pineapple. I smoked it daily for an uplifting, top to bottom stone.
Today we took a look at some of their top genetics, G13 and King Kush.
My take home? Ken’s GDP, the only varietal to break a 10$ donation on this stellar menu, pictured below. Ken’s Grandaddy Purple (GDP) from Cutting Edge was a great representation of what the strain could do, a decent cure, great handling and wonderful attention to detail in preserving the Grandaddy’s tranquil smoke
